Listen, Look and Love …
The third song cycle by the Cleats is about the unsung mechanic-hero named ‘Johnny’. The album adapts various synth-pop electronic sounds from the 1980s. Included in the mix are experiments in song writing: “The North” is unusually spare and intense and “The Other John” with its retro-guitar motif pays homage to the queer singer-songwriter John Grant, a favoured artist.
Released in 2018, The Cleats second album delivers a powerful mix of dark pop sensations.
Their eponymous debut album released in 2017 featuring music about identity, gender and LGBTQ issues.
The Cleats ‘Front Person’ goes acoustic, musically harkening back 50 years to the folk scenes of Greenwich Village and Yorkville — delivering melodically melancholic lyrics that conger joy and pain.
